2018 Writing Resolutions

1 min read

Happy New Year! 2018 is officially here, and to commemorate the event I’m sharing my writing resolutions.

Writing Resolutions

  1. Write 10,000 words a week
  2. Complete the outline and first draft of Orphic by September 1
  3. Complete the short story I started for my Dad, and receive critiques from my local writing group
  4. Update my blog with new content twice a week
  5. Win Camp NaNoWriMo in April or July, and NaNoWriMo in November
  6. Read 25 books

These are big, aggressive goals. I’m nervous about them, but I want to capitalize on last year’s momentum.  Besides, maybe you’re supposed to be nervous about your new year resolutions? They should require a little personal growth.

Bonus Health and Wellness Resolutions

  1. Finish learning how to swim the front crawl
  2. Complete the Couch to 10K program
  3. Improve my upper body strength *(need to concretize this still)
  4. Improve my core strength *(same as above)
  5. Run a 5K in under 30 minutes
  6. Hike 1 section of the Appalachian Trail

If you made any new year resolutions, share them in the comments and we will cheer each other on through the year. 🙂

  1. Glad you’ve set some goals! Always a good idea to have an overall plan for improvement & adventure. Let’s see…my goals….hmmm…well, I’m going to water volley ball tomorrow to try that & I think I’m going to try pickle ball again. Would love to get my golf game in the 80’s consistently. More exercise overall, including regular bike riding. I think that’s it. Oh, and lots of reading…. 😉

    1. Thanks! I hope water volley ball and pickle ball are fun for you. I think getting your golf game to the 80s is a great goal! What do you golf usually now?

Those are great goals 🙂 I’ll be sure to cheer you on!
